February Candlemaking Roundup

I’ve been in a pastel pink, flower-y mood lately. This roundup is obviously very influenced by Valentine’s Day, but spring weather is already starting to inspire my candlemaking projects too. Here are most of the candles I made this month:

Pink and White Taper Set (for Valentine’s Day)

I know that there are more interesting shapes, but I like the simplicity of a plain taper candle. So I made three in shades of pink.

Flower Pillar Candles

Flexible candle molds like this are so easy to use that I tend to go overboard. I made at least a dozen of these flower shaped pillar candles this month and with spring coming up, I’ll probably make several more.

Flower Container Candle

I made a 5 wick container candle and attached these yellow and white flowers on top using a heat gun. The flower candle mold was pretty tiny so I got the best results using a dropper tool for precision. It was a little more tedious than I expected, but I think it was worth it.

Layered Candle

I am new to the layered candle game. For the longest time, I could not get a clean line between the two colors because I couldn’t figure out a good temperature to pour the second layer. This month, I finally got it right! The pink/green color combination works so well (and since my mom is an AKA, this will make the perfect gift for her).

Plain White Taper Candle Set for Thrifted Taper Holders

If you couldn’t tell by my nail polish color, I love shades of blue. My husband found this beautiful set of taper candle holders at a resale shop and he gifted them to me for Christmas. I know that plain white taper candles aren’t very exciting, but I wanted the taper holders to be the star of the show.

Recycled Target Empties

Re-filling empty Target candle jars is how I justify how much money I spend there. Reduce, reuse, recycle. This set of 4 candles also gave me the chance to test out new scents. I tested out 2 new scents (basil and blueberry) and unfortunately, I hated both of them. This is why I test new scents in small candle jars.

Mini Ribbed Pillar Candle

I have been seeing this candle all over Pinterest so I ordered the smallest version of the candle mold to test it out. I like it so much that I’m going to order the taller version too. I’ll probably pair both of them together on a nightstand or a side table.

And that’s a wrap on February! What should I make next? Check back next month to see what I’m up to.

(SIDE NOTE: This was a taper-heavy month and that will probably continue into spring because I really need to justify buying these gorgeous green glass candle holders. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but don’t be surprised if you see them next month.)
