Ribbed candles have quickly become a favorite of mine, but there is something about the ribbed exterior that makes them more likely to get stuck in the candle mold while I’m making them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to bang on the outside of this mold to free the candle (or pop it in the freezer – another great trick for releasing a stuck candle from a mold). I have to remind myself to use a little extra mold release spray before I pour the wax. If I do that, the candles come out beautifully!
I filmed a YouTube video of this candlemaking project. If you want to make a set of these ribbed candles with me, you can watch here:
Here is everything I used to make this candle:
INGREDIENTS:
- I used a blend of soy wax and beeswax.
- I always use stearic acid to improve the burn time and to make the color more opaque.
- I used liquid candle dye.
- I’d recommend size #1/0 candle wick for this candle mold.
TOOLS:
- This is the ribbed candle mold I used.
- I use sticky tack to seal the mold (so that the wax doesn’t leak through the hole)
- I used mold release spray to prevent the candle from getting stuck.
- I used a heat gun to pre-heat the mold and to fix any imperfections in the final candle.
